This is a Hybrid role working from any of our Scottish offices 2 days a week 

We're seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a crucial leadership role for a hands-on expert who will guide and empower project teams, address intricate technical challenges, and drive the implementation of high-impact DevOps and cloud solutions.

As a Lead, you will be instrumental in guiding the technical direction and delivery of specific projects. You'll be central to building scalable, resilient, and efficient delivery pipelines, fostering a culture of operational excellence within your projects, and ensuring our solutions align perfectly with both client business goals and our strategic objectives. This role involves mentoring team members and ensuring the adoption of best practices across your engagements.


What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Contribute to Technical Vision & Architecture: Help define the technical vision, architectural direction, and roadmaps for complex, scalable, and resilient DevOps solutions within your projects, tackling intricate technical challenges with innovative implementations.

  • Lead Project Delivery Efforts: Guide and lead the delivery for complex digital projects, overseeing teams and initiatives to ensure successful execution and alignment with broader project and organisational goals, including driving software and infrastructure strategies.

  • Champion Agile & Operational Excellence: Drive the adoption and continuous improvement of Agile methodologies, version control practices, and overall operational efficiency within your project teams, innovating practices and mentoring colleagues.

  • Manage Client Technical Relationships: Work closely with client stakeholders, translating their business objectives into technical solutions, navigating relationships, managing scope, and presenting effectively to key contacts.

  • Drive Innovation & Team Mentorship: Actively explore cutting-edge DevOps technologies, assess their applicability, and guide your team in adopting relevant advancements, fostering a learning culture and contributing to mentorship programs.

Job requirements

What You'll Bring: Skills & Qualifications

  • Extensive Professional Experience: As a Lead DevOps Cloud Engineer, Senior DevOps Cloud Engineer, or similar role, ideally with experience in a digital consultancy.

  • Proven DevOps Expertise: In designing, implementing, and optimizing complex, large-scale DevOps pipelines and cloud infrastructure.

  • Azure Proficiency: Deep expertise in the Azure cloud platform; other cloud experience is desirable.

  • IaC Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Bicep Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling.

  • CI/CD & Azure DevOps: Proven experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies within Azure DevOps.

  • AD B2C Experience: Deployment and configuration of AD B2C is highly desirable.

  • Scripting & Automation: Strong command of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and configuration management tools.

  • System Design: Demonstrable expertise in system design, technical planning, and architectural guidance for distributed systems.

  • Agile Proficiency: Strong understanding and practical application of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

  • Client & Leadership Skills: Excellent client-facing and consulting abilities, with strong presentation, stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven mentoring and coaching experience.

  • Continuous Improvement: Ability to drive continuous improvement and champion change within project contexts.
