We're seeking an exceptional Senior Product Designer to join our growing team in Edinburgh. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned designer who thrives at the intersection of strategy, client engagement, and hands-on craft.
You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of digital products for our diverse client portfolio, guiding projects from initial concept through to successful delivery. You'll operate with significant autonomy, leading complex design initiatives, influencing senior stakeholders, and fostering design excellence within our consultancy. What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Designer, you will:
Lead Client Engagements: Independently lead design initiatives on large-scale projects, serving as the primary design point of contact and confidently presenting to senior client stakeholders.
Drive Strategic Design: Autonomously capture, define, and refine complex client requirements, translating them into clear design objectives. You'll deeply understand client Vision, Mission, and Objectives (VMO) to shape strategies that deliver measurable value with strong commercial awareness.
Craft Exceptional UX/UI: Meticulously craft intuitive UX flows and visually stunning, high-fidelity UI designs from complex requirements, ensuring adherence to modern aesthetic principles and brand guidelines.
Champion Design Systems & Accessibility: Lead the creation, evolution, and implementation of robust design systems. Define custom accessibility requirements, diligently test for compliance, and ensure all designs meet industry standards.
Lead Ideation & Prototyping: Set compelling design challenges and lead client and internal groups through ideation, sketching, and prototyping sessions to explore innovative solutions.
Mentor & Coach: Actively line manage, mentor, and coach junior product designers, fostering their professional growth, honing their craft, and sharing best practices.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work effectively in complex, fast-paced agile environments, adapting seamlessly to shifting client needs. You'll possess a strong understanding of how different roles (e.g., product owners, developers, strategists) impact each other, fostering seamless collaboration.
Job requirements
What You'll Bring:
Proven Senior Experience: Extensive experience as a Senior Product Designer or similar role within a digital agency or consultancy, with a portfolio showcasing strategic design, exceptional UX/UI craft, and successful client engagements.
Autonomous Design Leadership: Demonstrable experience leading design initiatives autonomously on large-scale projects, including confident presentation and influence of C-suite and senior stakeholders.
Strategic Acumen: Expertise in autonomously capturing, defining, and refining complex requirements, and translating client VMOs into actionable product strategies, complemented by strong commercial awareness.
Data-Driven Insight: Strong analytical skills for complex data analysis and identifying critical design insights to inform decisions.
Workshop Facilitation: Proven experience in setting design challenges and leading impactful ideation/prototyping workshops.
Mentorship Passion: A genuine passion for managing, mentoring, and coaching junior design talent.
Technical Design Expertise: Expertise in crafting exceptional UX and UI, building and maintaining design systems, and defining/testing custom accessibility requirements.
Agile & Collaborative: Comfortable working with shifting needs and priorities in fast-paced, complex agile environments, with a solid understanding of cross-functional roles and their interdependencies.
