Duties of This Role

In this role you will be involved in:

• Design, build, and deliver scalable, secure backend services and applications.

• Architect end-to-end backend solutions using modern cloud-native and microservices-based approaches.

• Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code with a strong focus on quality, performance, and reliability.

• Champion engineering best practices through code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

• Define and promote effective testing strategies across unit, integration, and service-level testing.

• Build resilient, scalable, and production-ready systems.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

• Communicate technical decisions and articulate trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Support the growth of junior engineers through coaching, feedback, and pair programming.

• Balance delivery pace with technical quality, enabling teams to make informed engineering decisions.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices by sharing ideas, lessons learned, and emerging technologies.

• Strong commercial experience developing backend applications in Azure.

• Experience with Azure API Management (APIM) or similar API gateway technologies.

• A broad, T-shaped backend skillset with experience across multiple programming languages.

• Hands-on DevOps experience, including CI/CD, deployment and cloud infrastructure.

• Strong knowledge of modern backend architectures, including microservices, and event-driven systems.

• Understanding of secure development practices and standards such as OWASP, GDPR and SOC 2.

• A pragmatic, forward-thinking approach with a strong interest and enthusiasm for applying AI across the SDLC to enhance engineering practices and advise clients on effective adoption.

• A passion for clean code, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience mentoring and supporting the development of other engineers.
