Senior Java Developer

This is a Hybrid role working from our Sofia office 2 days a week, offering you the perfect balance of collaborative in-person connection and focused remote flexibility.

Key Aspects of the Role

As a Senior Java Developer, you will operate at the Enables/Ensures level (SFIA 5-7), designing and delivering end-to-end backend features and subsystems. You will be a guardian of quality, ensuring code is modular, reusable, and scalable while guiding the testing strategy across unit, integration, and service levels. You will act as a technical mentor, conducting peer reviews and coaching others to maintain robust application security and high-performance standards.

Duties of this role include:

• Architectural Delivery: Designing and delivering end-to-end backend subsystems while ensuring code is modular, maintainable, and scalable.

• Quality & Security: Conducting peer reviews to ensure standards are met and delivering robust application security by applying defensive measures.

• Technical Guidance: Guiding the testing strategy across unit and service-level tests while introducing new industry ideas to the practice.

• Consulting & Communication: Explaining technical trade-offs in plain language and presenting confident demos to clients and stakeholders.

• Mentorship: Mentoring junior colleagues in craft and process while providing constructive peer feedback.

• Delivery Accountability: Evaluating trade-offs between speed and quality while being accountable for the successful delivery of features.

• Practice Growth: Regularly mentoring others across the practice and contributing to Waracle's body of knowledge through lessons learned.
